Resizing
/ Rotating Images
Scroll down in this top section for instructions |
If you are having difficulty uploading your images to your listing, the most likely reason is that your photos are too large and therefore take too long to upload. This will stall our server and you may receive errors.
Your images will need to be resized not only so that you can upload them to your listing, but also so that visitors to your listing will not have to wait for a long time for your photos to appear.
You can also use this page to rotate an image. Follow the same instructions for resizing below.
Step 1:
First, create a new folder named "resized photos" (suggestion - create this folder on your desktop) for the new, smaller images that you will create. Come back to this window. |
Step 2:
Click the browse button below to display a box called "Choose File." Make sure that at the bottom of that window, beside "Files of Type:" you have selected "All Files." |
Step 3:
Find the file on your computer, and click "open" at the bottom of the box. The box will close and the file will appear beside the browse button below. |
Step 4:
Click the "Upload Image" button. Your image will now be shown at the bottom of the page, and its properties will be displayed in the table above it. Click the "Continue" button. |
Step 5:
You can set the size for the new
image(s) to anything you wish, but for best results, follow our suggestions
below. If you choose a large size, the pictures will not fit into the image
window properly when your visitors view your photos, and they will have
to "scroll around" to see the entire image. The larger setting you choose,
the longer it will take for your photos to show up on your visitors screen,
especially those with a dial-up internet connection.
For landscape-orientated photos (photos with a greater width than height), click on the button at the left of "Set width to..." and enter "650" pixels. For portrait-orientated photos (photos with a greater height than width), click on the button at the left of "Set height to..." and enter "600" pixels. Leave all other settings as they are, unless you would like to use the additional features. Click the "Create Thumbnail" button. Your image will be resized and displayed as 650 pixels wide for landscape photos, or 600 pixels high for portrait photos. |
Step 6:
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the new image. Hold your mouse cursor (arrow) over it, and click the right mouse button once. A menu will appear. Select "save image as..." or "save picture as..." and a box will appear. You will be able to navigate through your computer to find the folder you created for the new photos. Once you have that folder open, you can click the "Save" button at the bottom of the box and the photo will be saved. You might want to rename your new photo(s) by adding "650" before the .jpg (or .jpeg) part of the file name so that you don't confuse them with your originals. |
Step 7:
Once you have resized all of your pictures, go back to the Administration area of SKproperty.com and add the new photo(s) to your listing. |
Note: If you have an existing photo on a web site but it is not on your hard drive, you can hold your mouse cursor (arrow) over the image and right-click on it. A menu will appear. Select "save image as" or "save picture as" to save it to your hard drive, and then upload it to your listing. If it needs to be resized, follow the instructions above.
